Panelists: H.E. Mr. Mehdi Danesh-Yazdi, Chairperson of the Comm. For Social Development; H.E. Ms. Carmen Gallardo Hernandez, Chairperson of the Commission on the Status of Women; Delegate representing Mr. Stefan Moravek, Chairperson of the Commission on Science and Technology for Development; Mr. Hans Hoogeveen, Chairperson of the Bureau of the United Nations Forum on Forests; Ms. Victoria Tauli-Corpuz, Chairperson of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues; Mr. Thomas Gass, Vice Chairperson of the Commission on Population and Development.
SUMMARY OF MEETING
The need for a method of cooperation, coordination, cohesion, and synergy within and among the functional commissions of ECOSOC for the unified goal of fulfilling the goals of the World Summit and the UN Development Agenda were highly stressed in all of the panelists’ presentations. There was also a focus on implementation of programs with annual follow up reviews and reports.
